Our Educators assist students from elementary through high school. We specialize in academic support, standardized tests, interviews, and applications. By working on an individual level, we customize a course of action to improve grades, stay motivated, and gain admission into top ranking schools.

Our Educators motivate students to reach their full potential and ensure students build upon study skills that will serve them throughout their education and in countless facets of their lives. Our effective and motivational sessions allow students to master skills that were once a challenge.

When students begin working with us they gain the knowledge to succeed and acquire a better understanding of their passions, values, strengths, and areas of improvement. Our session complement and enhance classroom learning, allowing students to build confidence and increase grades.

We recognize that being in a comfortable environment increases a student’s ability to learn. Therefore, we are proud to offer online sessions via Skype, FaceTime, and Zoom. We are here to answer any questions and offer support by phone or email.

We had a fantastic experience with Competitive Advantage.  Our daughter was experiencing test anxiety and needed practice and strategies to help her work though these challenges. The preparation and confidence she gained from Danielle and Evan’s instruction and support made all the difference.  She entered the high school process feeling prepared.  We were able to submit ISEE scores of 8s and 9s to her school choices.  We were thrilled when she got into her too three choices and she will happily attend Grace Church HS.

Danielle and her team are the best of the best and did a stellar job of helping both my boys get into excellent high-schools: Trinity School and Berkley Carroll. We could not recommend her highly enough.

Danielle was incredible! After only 8 hours of tutoring, my daughter increased her total SSAT score by 10%. She was an enormous help with the vocab!! She was flexible and so easy to work with…I will definitely be using her for my next daughter!

We have been clients with Competitive Advantage for six years now, using them for a variety of different services. Danielle is unfailingly attentive and reachable, which is not always the case with founders! Our current math tutor, Laureen, has been an amazing asset for us. Laureen is reliable, flexible and has built a great rapport with our daughter. With the pandemic in full force, Laureen seamlessly transitioned from in person to online sessions. She always follows up to ensure everything is clear and offers additional resources for practice. We cannot say enough great things about her.

Our tutor has taught our son to think beyond the textbook and apply thoughtful and meaningful methods to his writing and comprehension skills. She is patient and understands how to navigate through learning roadblocks. Also, she has pride of ownership and is very focused on achieving results. I feel confident that she has given my son the necessary tools to foster a desire for learning. She has also enhanced his ability to think and process knowledge independently. She truly loves to work with students and it shows.

Danielle has tutored our son Alex through two different standardized tests. First, for high school and now for boarding school, so we have known her for several years. She was highly recommended to us by a good friend. I have to say that, number one; our son likes working with Danielle because she is a cool, nice person- which is half the battle. Also, Alex’s test scores have really improved, and of course, that is the proof right there! It has been incredibly helpful for him to be able to practice these tests with somebody who is really good at identifying where the weaknesses are. It has been really great to have her!

My son Quinn is nine years old, and has been working with Danielle for four to five months, preparing for the ISEE test. It has been a great experience for him. He had to learn a lot of new material and it has gone extremely smoothly! Danielle’s explanations have been great for him and saved me from arguing with him about doing his homework and extra test preparation. I would highly recommend Danielle and her company for anyone looking for a tutor!

I am writing to let you know that I have indeed heard from schools, in fact, I’ve heard from all of my schools. It is my pleasure to inform you that I have been accepted at Friends Seminary, LREI, Berkeley Carroll, Calhoun, and Rudolf Steiner, and I have been wait listed at Fieldstone. This is great news, of course, for me, but I would like you to know I could not have done it without your help. Thank you so much!

I am so grateful for the support you offered Charlie. Thanks to Competitive Advantage he was able to test with a deeper understanding of the material, giving him the confidence to improve his scores across the board. We are delighted to report that he was accepted to five of the six schools to which he applied (waitlisted for the sixth), and will be attending our first choice, Friends Seminary. If ever we need help in the future or should someone ask for a recommendation, I will not hesitate to contact Competitive Advantage.

Competitive Advantage Tutoring has helped my daughter, Cleopatra, enjoy reading. The encouragement and one-on-one focus has had a lasting effect on both Cleo’s confidence and comprehension. Our tutor can pinpoint and address problem areas and create fun solutions. Cleo very much looks forward to her weekly lessons and really is keen on doing them well!

My daughter Emily has been working with Danielle, from Competitive Advantage, for about six weeks and it has been an amazing experience. Emily has shown incredible growth in her math. She has confidence and knows what she is doing! We will be using her for fourth grade because it has just been amazing! She walks in the door every time with a huge smile on her face, ready to go. She calls and checks in, her emails are incredible, the support and the care that we get from her has been phenomenal. If you ever need any help for your child, I highly recommend Competitive Advantage!

Competitive Advantage has been tutoring my six-year-old son in reading skills for the past six months. From the moment my son met his tutor, he was fully engaged, challenged, excited, and happy to ‘work.’ Our tutor’s approach was friendly, inspiring, and thoroughly enjoyable. She was punctual and responsible with her appointments. Additionally she reports my son’s progress with explanations of how and what she is doing. Most of all, my child is happy and excited to see her. He derives pleasure and learning from his tutorial sessions. He has been excited about his learning, and for this we are very grateful.

Our Educators

Founder and Director, Danielle Rayo, values the efforts of the PTA, being a former teacher herself. She appreciates the hard work and effort the PTA provides to the school community. Competitive Advantage is pleased to contribute donations through our Give Back Program, which allocates 10% of our proceeds to your school’s PTA. We firmly believe that supplementary education should complement and enhance classroom learning.

Our Give Back Program provides parents the ability to contribute to their local PTA while providing academic assistance for their own children. Funding for PTA is needed in many NYC schools and we are proud to offer our families an opportunity to give back. If you are a PTA member, a part of school staff, or simply an interested parent please contact chelsea@competitiveadvantageny.com to obtain more information on this program.
